Yes. We perform routine screening colonoscopies. During visits, our specialists will review your colon cancer risk factors with you.

Patients are expected to pay office co-pays at the time of the visit. Patients without insurance will be asked to provide a deposit before being seen for non-emergency problems. Major credit cards are accepted.

We are happy to talk with you on the phone; however, due to the sensitive nature and the anatomy of the diseases we treat, a face-to-face visit is required for all new patients. This will help us to properly diagnose and monitor health issues and progress.

Most HMO’s and some insurances (e.g. Tricare) will require a referral before being seen by a specialist. You should check with your plan to see if this is needed.

Colon and rectal surgeons are experts in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of colon and rectal problems. They have completed advanced training in the treatment of colon and rectal issues in addition to full training in general surgery. Colon and rectal surgeons treat benign and malignant conditions, perform routine screening examinations and surgically treat problems when necessary.

Colon and rectal surgeons are experts in the surgical management of lower GI disease, whereas gastroenterologists are experts in medical treatments. Colon and rectal surgeons do not treat diseases of the liver, pancreas or stomach. We frequently work closely with gastroenterologists to manage patients as a team approach.

Elective surgery is primarily performed at CHRISTUS Highland and Willis-Knighton Pierremont. Consultations and surgery are available at all of the CHRISTUS and Willis-Knighton hospitals in Shreveport.
