RECTOCELE
A rectocele is the weakening or thinning of the tissue between the lower rectum and vagina. Although no symptoms may exist, a rectocele may result in increased straining or difficulty with bowel movements or local discomfort.

Rectoceles as described above may be repaired surgically when they are felt to be causing significant symptoms. This is usually done as an outpatient procedure. Long-term results of repair can be mixed.
